Maîtrise de russe from the University « Institut des Langues et Civilisations Orientales » (INALCO) in Paris.
Diplôme de l’Ecole Supérieure de Journalisme (ESJ) in Lille. In addition to Russian, French and English, Sonia is also fluent in German and speaks basic Spanish.
Sonia began her career in Agence France Presse (AFP), the international news agency, in the Paris headquarter. She then joined the AFP bureau in London as a foreign correspondent. During that time, she covered the three general elections won by Tony Blair, the Northern Irish Peace Process and much more. From there, she went on to work as a freelance for several publications and TVs, including Le Figaro, L’Express, Politique Internationale etc.
For the last eight years Sonia has been the sole UK and Ireland correspondent for Liberation, the third largest French daily newspaper. She covers the whole spectrum of news. She is also a regular contributor for Sud-Ouest, one of the biggest regional French newspaper. Other media work includes op-eds for The Observer and The Guardian and live comments on French politics for BBC television and radio or Sky News.
