Richard Nicholas

 

Richard is a lawyer focusing on data protection and technology contracts.

He advises his clients how to deal with data protection legislation, on use of personal data in new technology, the sharing of data within organisations and the use of personal data for marketing, monitoring, analysis, prediction and advertising.

He negotiates agreements involving the use of data and artificial intelligence as well as (recently) how to avoid some of the more disruptive effects of Brexit on cross-border digital and retail co-operation.  This has allowed him to work with a number of large English and French retailers, Online and digital businesses, including FTSE 100 companies, Social Media companies and Telecommunications providers

Richard is a regular speaker on Data Protection and Cyber Security issues  - most recently to the CBI (Confederation of British Industry), CompTIA (the Computing Trade and Industry Association) and the Chambre des Notaires de Paris.  His involvement in high profile data matters has led to him being interviewed on data protection issues on BBC News, BBC’s consumer affairs programme “Right on the Money” and on Radio 4’s “You and Yours” programme.
