Tilkee's fast growth over 2018 has culminated in the opening of its first European subsidiary.
By 2021, Tilkee hopes to achieve 40% of its turnover abroad. This is the first subsidiary abroad for the Lyon-based company which should soon be followed by a presence in Germany in 2019.
A major step in the company's growth
Tilkee announced its second round of funding of €3.5 million in April 2018. The company renewed its ambition to establish itself on the European market and position Tilkee as the benchmark solution by quickly having a presence in the English and German markets.
Kate Pringle, of British origin, joined Tilkee at the end of 2016 in Lyon in order to start developing sales on the UK market. She was quickly able to sign the first local contracts, in particular with Decathlon and Veolia, and thus confirmed the potential of the solution in this new market.
"Being fluent in the language and having a local's knowledge of these markets were important strategic assets for us. In addition, if the
project was successful, our employees knew that they could continue the adventure in that country if they so wished and that's exactly what Kate is doing."
An essential presence in a strategic market
The UK is the 3rd largest CRM market in the world after the USA and Japan and this represents important potential for Tilkee.
"Salesforce, into which our solution is fully integrated, is widely used in the UK. In addition, the market has proven to be mature and open to so-called "Sales Enablement" solutions that optimise sales efficiency" says Sylvain Tillon. "A physical presence in the UK was essential to quickly increasing brand visibility, developing our business and also responding quickly to new opportunities."
Tilkee therefore decided to entrust Kate Pringle with the task of carrying out its local implementation. She has just left Lyon and moved to London with the objective of finalising the recruitment of a Sales Director with whom she will implement Tilkee's UK sales strategy, in order to rapidly develop the company's business there.
"In 2019, Tilkee expects to generate 10% of the group's turnover in the UK market. Our aim is to reach 40% of our group turnover internationally by 2021," says Sylvain Tillon. "Kate has proven her ability to meet the challenges she sets for herself and we are convinced that she will succeed in supporting Tilkee's growth in a market she knows well.”
The startup was launched by Sylvain Tillon and Timothée Saumet in December 2013. Tilkee is a French software publisher that currently employs 32 people and is expanding in Europe (Germany, UK and Spain). Tilkee offers an artificial intelligence SaaS solution that increases sales.
