The recruitment department of the French Chamber is acting as a recruitment agency for its over 530-member companies, one of which is currently looking for a Product Development Manager

Our Client

Our client produces and distributes cheese and dairy ingredients, delicatessen, seafood and chocolate products worldwide. 

As a Product Development Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Product Development Manager and support the Marketing Director. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Selection Pack, Baking Camembert and Hard Cheese portfolios 
  • Analyse the market, products, competitors and customers 
  • Improve product in liaison with Technical, Supply Chain and Production Departments 
  • Assist in the development of annual Long-Term Plan, Marketing Plan and Budget presentations 
  • Propose actions and methods to achieve sales and profit objectives 
  • Manage allocated Marketing Budget
  • Manage and recruit external Marketing Suppliers, including but not limited to Design, Packaging Development, Premium Sourcing, Consumer Research
  • Support the Sales function in the presentation of opportunities to Multiple Retail Customers 
  • Respond to customer requests in a timely and comprehensive manner 

New Product Development:

  • Develop existing and new products both proactively and reactively to meet customer requirements and achieve internal profit targets 
  • Identify trends within primary market and tertiary markets to provide a pipeline of development/innovation 
  • Develop packaging solutions and packaging innovation 
  • Project manage all Selection Pack NPD through liaison with internal departments 
  • Prepare presentations to customers to achieve sales objectives and listings 

Organisation, Management & Leadership:

  • Maintain and report appropriate trackers to monitor all business activities 
  • Review and amend processes 
  • Build, co-ordinate, manage and review cross functional teams with regular communication and monitoring of appropriate actions
  • Liaise with third party cheese suppliers through regular communication and relationship development
  • Play a unifying role between different departments: Supply Chain, Production, Technical, Finance & Sales 

Profile

  • At least 3-4 years of FMCG commercial project management experience 
  • Track record of achievement within an innovation or project orientated role in a fastpaced Food/FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Good knowledge of NPD development from concept to launch 
  • Proactive investigation of solutions to issues/problems/risks 
  • Demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness and the ability to deliver against KPI’s 
  • Ability to be agile/flexible in approach and ways of working with an ability to embraces change 
  • Plan and lead effective meetings - taking control and ensuring appropriate conclusions/actions are agreed in a timely manner 
  • Commercial awareness 
  • Interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships 
  • Team player bringing a positive energy to a team environment, working to achieving success with others 
  • Highly IT literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project(desirable)) 
  • Must be flexible to travel (up to 3/4 times a month) 
  • Fluent in English, French would be desirable  
  • Driving license 

Location: South-West London

Salary: £35,000-£40,000 + Bonus

Type of contract: Permanent, Full-time
