Frederick Fischer is the UK Managing Director at Lalique, responsible for its five UK boutiques: Harrods, Burlington Arcade, Conduit Street, The Glenturret in Scotland, and Bicester Village.
Native to Alsace, Frederick has a background in journalism and luxury retail and joined Lalique in 2000. Over the past 25+ years, he has played a major role in developing Lalique in the UK, one of its most important markets worldwide.
Born in Paris, Frederick has family roots in Alsace, close to the Lalique factory, which, for over 100 years, has remained the only one in the world.
Having studied journalism at the École Française des Attachés de Presse in Paris, Frederick spent a year studying in the United States and began his professional career back in Paris, working across a wide range of media titles and consumer magazines.
He caught the retail bug whilst working weekends at Louis Vuitton on Avenue Montaigne, Paris. This experience sparked an interest in luxury retail, and his skill in this area was recognised, leading to a permanent job at Louis Vuitton.
Frederick joined Lalique in 2000. As a long-time collector of Lalique with his family, it felt like a natural move: "my grandmother gave me my first piece of Lalique when I was a young boy." After a short time in Paris, he was seconded to London with the objective of turning around the company's Sloane Street boutique. Initially on a three-month contract, his success snowballed, and Frederick has remained in London ever since.
In 2004, he was appointed Retail Manager for the UK, taking responsibility for the four Lalique boutiques then operating in London. In 2012, Frederick was appointed Managing Director UK. Under his leadership, the British operation has expanded significantly, with new locations including Conduit Street, Bicester Village and Burlington Arcade, as well as a large Lalique concession in Harrods. More recently, Lalique has expanded its UK presence to Scotland, where it operates a boutique set in the heart of an ancient whisky distillery, The Glenturret, also home to the celebrated Restaurant Lalique.
By 2017, the UK was described as Lalique's number one market in Europe and fourth largest market worldwide.
Frederick's role in luxury British retail extends beyond the conventional. He works extensively with international clients, designers, architects, and luxury property and hospitality projects, whilst also liaising closely with Lalique's factory in Alsace and its creative teams to bring bespoke projects to life.
Most recently, Frederick has continued to represent Lalique within the international interior design community and developed the business through relationships with architects, collectors, hospitality groups and cultural institutions. As a judge for the International Property Awards, he chose to collaborate with the interior designer Elicyon for WOW! house 2026 at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, creating the 'Lalique Bar' – a jewel-box room widely celebrated for showing crystal in a new light, "bringing depth and surprise to the interior.
