Sir Alex ChisholmUK Chair, EDF

Alex Chisholm is Chair of EDF Energy UK, a Board member of BT Group plc, and Senior Advisor with Boston Consulting Group and with CPP Investments.

Previously he served as Chief Operating Officer of the UK Civil Service and Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Office (2020-24), and Permanent Secretary at the Department of Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (2016-20).

In prior roles in government, Alex served as Chief Executive of the Competition & Markets Authority (2013-16), and Commissioner for Communications Regulation in Ireland (2006-13).

Earlier in career he held executive positions in Pearson plc, Financial Times Group, eCountries Inc and ecceleration Ltd. He holds an Oxford MA and an INSEAD MBA. He is a trustee of Breadline Africa. He was knighted for public service in 2023.
