Private View of 'Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery' exhibition
Discover the extraordinary life of the Queen of Crime in a new exhibition at the British Library, opening 30 October 2026.

Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery opens at the British Library on 30 October 2026, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the life of the Queen of Crime. Drawing on letters, notebooks, photographs, personal belongings and early manuscript drafts — many on public display for the first time — the exhibition traces how Christie's own adventures, from archaeological digs to transcontinental train journeys, shaped unforgettable stories and characters including Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Visitors will step into atmospheric spaces evoking her world, from a country house and WWI dispensary to an Orient Express-style carriage and West End theatre.
Members are invited to a private view ahead of the exhibition's public run, with the chance to explore these spaces and rare objects — including Christie's 1937 Remington typewriter and her handwritten study notes — over breakfast, before the crowds arrive.
An unmissable morning for anyone drawn to the world's best-loved crime writer.
