Hinkley Point C on-site visit

On 9th October 2025, our members were invited to an exclusive tour of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.

This visit provided a rare opportunity to explore the advanced engineering and innovation behind the construction of Hinkley Point C, one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.

Hinkley Point C, being delivered by EDF Energy and its partners, will comprise two EPR reactors and is set to supply low-carbon electricity to around six million homes. The project represents a major step forward in the UK’s clean energy transition.

During the visit, members were able to see key elements of the construction site, including the reactor buildings, turbine halls, and sea wall defences. They also gained insight into the extensive measures being taken to reduce environmental impact and enhance sustainability throughout the project. In addition, the team highlighted the over 1,500 individuals who have taken on apprenticeships as part of this project.

Thank you to the Hinkley Point team for their hospitality, and to Andrew Whitecroft for providing a comprehensive presentation of the project. Wishing the whole team the best of luck with the ongoing work on this incredible project!
