Private View of 'Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery' exhibition

On 4 November, our members enjoyed an exclusive viewing of of 'Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery' exhibition at the British Library
There are few better ways to start the day than with a mystery, and our private morning at the British Library was proof of it. 🔍
Before the doors opened to the public, guests gathered for breakfast and an exclusive first look at Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery. The exhibition draws on letters, notebooks, photographs, personal belongings and early manuscript drafts, many of them on public display for the first time.
We were delighted to welcome Dr Sophie Defrance, Curator of Romance Collections at the British Library and co-curator of the exhibition, who opened the morning with an introduction to the life and work of the Queen of Crime. Guests then made their way from a country house to a WWI dispensary, an Orient Express-style carriage and a West End theatre. Along the way they came across treasures such as Christie’s 1937 Remington typewriter and her handwritten study notes, and saw how her travels and experiences shaped Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple and so many others.
A heartfelt thank you to the British Library for their warm hospitality, and to Dr Defrance for sharing her expertise with us. It was a truly memorable start to the day.
Here’s to more inspiring mornings together! ☕
