Women's Business Circle Dinner with Pip Hare, Yachtswoman, journalist and sailing coach
On 19th November 2025, the Women's Business Circle hosted an inspirational evening with Pip Hare, Yachtswoman, journalist and sailing coach.
Pip Hare spoke about the contrasts in her identity, her deep connection to the ocean, and how discovering sailing as a teenager set her on a path in a largely male-dominated sport without built-in support. She highlighted the influence of Isabelle Autissier on her ambition to reach the Vendée Globe and described the demanding nature of solo offshore racing, where she must juggle navigation, tactics, engineering, and constant problem-solving.
Throughout, she emphasised the mindset required to stay grounded in the knowledge that this is a life she chose, and she reflected on the support she has found within the French sailing community as well as the quiet, almost spiritual stillness of the open ocean.
