Robert has been an Agent for the Bank of England in Greater London since May 2018.

He joined the Bank of England in 1998, where he initially supported the Monetary Policy Committee as an economist before advancing to a senior management role. Between 2010 and 2012, he represented the UK on the board of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. Upon returning, he worked in the press office and, most recently, supported the Financial Policy Committee by leading a team that monitors developments in the UK banking sector.

Prior to joining the Bank of England, Robert worked as an economist and forecaster at HM Treasury, British Telecom, and Manchester University from 1990 to 1998. He also spent a year teaching English in Japan.

Robert holds a first degree in economics from Manchester University and a master’s degree from Warwick University.

Born in Northampton, raised in Birmingham, Robert now resides in Hackney, northeast London.
