Patron & Corporate: Advocacy Breakfast - Unlocking the Infrastructure Decade - Roundtable with the Oxford Economics team

Join us for a roundtable breakfast as we explore what the UK’s infrastructure plans mean in practice for investors, contractors, and policymakers.

The discussion will centre around the findings of a recent report prepared by Oxford Economics for the Construction Plant-Hire Association entitled Half-Built Britain: Unlocking the Nation’s Infrastructure Growth Plans.

Much of the government’s ten-year infrastructure pipeline set out in July 2025 has yet to be financed. The need for private capital is greater than ever, especially when set against the backdrop of the UK government’s record of delivering major national infrastructure. The state of the public finances and the government’s commitment to observe its fiscal rules may increase the importance of private sector capital even further.

The government’s track record in managing major infrastructure programmes and projects is mixed. Projects often go over budget and take much longer to deliver than planned which impacts negatively on public finances and delays benefits to public services and consequently stalls economic growth. The Infrastructure Cost Review published by HM Treasury and Infrastructure UK in 2010 found that infrastructure built in Britain is more expensive than European peer group and that savings of at least 15% are achievable.

Participants at this roundtable will have the chance to engage directly, exchange insights, and discuss practical strategies for helping make the UK’s ambitious infrastructure plans deliverable.

This interactive session will chaired by Thierry d’Argent, CEO, SG London Branch and Group Chief Country Officer, UK and Ireland at Societe Generale,
